How It Works

 

Cooke Family Farms is now accepting applications for our CSA shares.  We will have a  Spring/Summer share that will run for 10 weeks starting the second or third week of May and running through mid July.  You can  also have a Fall share that will run for 8 weeks starting late August.  Each week will include lots of locally grown vegetables.   Members commit to paying upfront for weekly farm shares and will receive an assortment of fresh produce every week, for 14 weeks. The contents of each share will be determined by seasonal availability. Pickup Shares are to be picked up at our barn located at 11008 Poole Road, Wendell, NC. The first pickup will be on the second week of May. Depending on weather conditions the start date may be advanced or delayed 1-2 weeks, and members will be notified by email if there are any changes. Members will be expected to pick up their share every week at the designated time. Late or missed pick-ups will be forfeited/donated. If a member is not available during the pick up time, a friend/family member may pick up their share. Home delivery can be added for an additional $5 per week.

We grow a large variety of produce on our farm.  You can expect 5 to 7 different items in your box each week.  Some weeks may have more than others but we will make sure that you have gotten your share's worth by the end of the season.

RISK

 

Members are seen as active farm partners, sharing in the risks and rewards of agriculture (weather, drought, disease, early frost, crop failure, etc.). Cooke Farms will plan for such possibilities and use growing techniques that protect the harvest, minimize risk to members and optimize the rewards, however, no crops are guaranteed.  

 

Flowers – Additional Offering

 

Members can choose to receive fresh cut flowers in addition to their share. Bouquets will include a variety of blooms (zinnias, sunflowers, snapdragons, and more!). By choosing this additional offering, members will receive 6 bouquets throughout the program. There are no preselected weeks that flowers will be given. The farm will choose which dates based on when the blooms are available. Members can purchase multiple Flower Add-ons.

Purchasing from our CSA at Cooke Family Farms gives you direct access to the farmer that is growing the food you eat.
